Position Summary:

The Credit & Collections Manager/Senior Manager will be responsible for managing Velocity’s Credit & Collections department. This dynamic leader will have oversight and ownership of all balance sheet related Credit & Collections elements. In addition, this role will play a key part in Velocity’s cash strategy as we continue to scale operations both within the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily credit and collections activities to monitor timely and accurate invoicing
  • Formulate SLA and KPIs for the credit and collections department and ensure complaice and delivery to those standards
  • Establish a robust cash flow forecasting process
  • Establish and own financial risk screening for new clients
  • Supervise, direct, and review work of credit and collections staff
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions including writing accounting memos for audit purposes
  • Review, approve, and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Manage the annual external audit/review and periodic internal audits as related to credit and collections
  • Establish a robust procedure of matching incoming payments to appropriate invoices at the right granularity level. Explore automation opportunities including but not limited to banking integrations
  • Formulate strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring adequacy of incoming cash
  • Develop, establish, and maintain general accounting financial policies and procedures and work with management and employees to ensure compliance
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • The credit and collections manager/Sr. Manager may assist all the departments in projects implemented by Velocity headquarters
  • The credit and collections Manager/Sr. Manager will interface on a regular basis with assigned client groups as well as other functions across the organization as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent years of experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of Credit and collections experience; previous experience within a regulated clinical, medical, or phmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Previous management/supervisory experience required 

Required Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) a plus
  • MBA (not mandatory but preferred)

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of financial concepts, theory, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (Oracle/Netsuite)
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX compliance) preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
